Dance, Detox and Water Taxis

Having lived many years in the DC area, I have very fond memories of dancing the night away at Lost and Found, Badlands, and Tracks. And like the Renegade, they’ve all gone bye-bye or the names have been changed to protect the innocent. Over the last several years, my hopes have been raised and dashed countless times upon hearing the rumor that a new Renegade is on its way. So when I perused the Cape Gazette this morning and read that Ivy (a new nightclub in Dewey) has plans underway for a Detox Party every Sunday in July with nationally known DJ Skribble, I got very excited. Ivy grew in the space formerly known as Venus on the Half Shell and is reputed to be absolutely sleek and gorgeous inside with a stunning view of the Rehoboth Bay. So get your happy feet ready and let’s go!

Have you checked out all the new restaurants in town? What’s the scoop? I can’t be everywhere, people! I’ve been to Cabo, a(MUSE.), and Kingston Gourmet, but have yet to check out the new eats at Crepes by the Sea, and Kay’s Kitchen (First Street), Bootleggers (Wilmington Ave), Modern Mixture, and Semra’s Mediterranean Grill (Rehoboth Ave), and Yoga Fresh Yogurt, and Big Sissies (Rehoboth Ave Extended), so would love to hear from you at my email below.

Leaving the downtown ReHo area, I see that Pete’s Steak Shop has their sign up in the Food Lion shopping center and have sectioned off a nice outdoor eating area. Chipotle construction is well underway at Tanger Seaside. In the Giant Food shopping center, Buffalo Wild Wings hopes to be open by July 4. Went to see Viki Dee at the new Hooked Seafood & Martini Bar in Midway and the place was packed! Also in Midway, the Old Bay Steakhouse and Seafood replaced the Roadhouse Steak Joint. Old Bay owner, Zack King, (who also owns Port in Dewey) plans to feature a wild game night each week with meats like bison, kangaroo, and venison.

In downtown Lewes, the Rose & Crown is still under construction, but DaVinci’s on Savannah Road is now open. If you enjoy a drive to Milton and miss the old Iguana Grill on the waterfront, there’s a new Italian restaurant there called GoodFellas.

Been hearing rave reviews about the new Cape Water Taxi that runs between Lewes and Dewey Beach. You can board at Fisherman’s Wharf in Lewes or Rehoboth Bay Marina in Dewey and take a leisurely ride down the canal.

Pandora, a jewelry store known primarily for bracelets and charms, is coming to Tanger Bayside, and Vineyard Vines, offering coastal-inspired clothing, is now open in Tanger Midway. In downtown Lewes, Treasures is now open and features sterling silver jewelry and home décor.

The two story building under construction across from Big Fish Grill will be new digs for the Rehoboth Beach Animal Hospital. And if I haven’t mentioned it before, Savannah Animal Hospital in Lewes is now open 24 hours for emergency care.

Are you, like me, a fan of the movies? I have several options for you! Cinema by the Canal kicks off their summer schedule on June 27 at the Lewes Canalfront Park. Dewey Beach also offers movies on the beach Monday nights at Dagsworthy Avenue. Or, you can channel your inner Ebert at the Rehoboth Beach Film Society screenings to help select films for their fall festival. The sessions are held in Rehoboth and in Bethany—check their website for details.
